Webstore Update July 7, 2008

By Rick Barnhart 07/07/2008

We have new t shirts ready and waiting for you to bring home from Every Time I Die, Gwen Stacy, Eternal Lord, The Hottness, Ligeia, Ferret Music and a new zip up sweatshirt from Every Time I Die!

Misery Signals – Controller
Over the past five years Misery Signals has made huge strides within their own creative bubble, which encompasses raging metallic crunch and real life narratives seamlessly blended with beautiful instrumental and melodic post-rock sections. Technically adept but still primal, they are a band’s band able to start a mosh pit with no problem but also getting the rock hipsters to nod their head in respect. On their new album, Controller the band enlisted the poster boy for abstract and creative heavy music, Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, The Devin Townsend Band) for the producer’s chair. Townsend also produced the band’s full-length debut Of Malice And The Magnum Heart. You can pre order Controller by clicking HERE!

Ligeia – Bad News
Ligeia’s debut album Your Ghost is a Gift was produced by Ken Susi (Unearth) and released in late March 2006. Now, two years later the band returns with the release of Bad News. With Ken Susi once again handling the producer duties, Ligeia is poised and ready to take the next step. After all of the problems, headaches and heartaches, Ligeia has persevered. Unwilling to break or conform, these 4 guys from Western Massachusetts have remained positive. Ligeia is having fun, and they are doing it their way, on their terms. Who knew Bad News could be so much fun? You can pre order Bad News (and its accompanying package deal t shirt) by clicking HERE!

Still more awesome designs are on their way so stay tuned!

PRE ORDERS, GET YOUR PRE ORDERS HERE!

By Rick Barnhart 06/06/2008

Another news update, another slew of new records (and merch) to tell you about!

This Tuesday (June 10th) brand new records from The Banner and Elysia will be available every where for you guys to get your grubby little paws on. If you pre ordered the CD/T Shirt deal, sweet. You are officially better than everyone else that just bought the CD by itself. Thanks everyone for the support!

Knights Of The Abyss – Shades
Next up will be Knights Of The Abyss with their brand new full length and Ferret Music debut Shades! Hailing from Glendale, Arizona, Knights of the Abyss forges an onslaught of heavy and intricate riffing while adding a sense of melody uncharacteristic of most bands today. The band’s unique style of intense metal has taken them to the forefront of the community and placed them among many other great artists on the Ferret Music roster. You can pre order Shades by clicking HERE!

Lower Definition – The Greatest Of All Lost Arts
As a misnomer to their sound, San Diego’s own Lower Definition are anything but low key. In their sound in a soaring melodic sound and vocal approach that mesh power and catchiness that recall Faith No More and Glassjaw in their prime. Like the afore-mentioned groups Lower Definition has a driving aggression that is more technically adept of distortion and multiply-fired riffs than pummeling. You can pre order The Greatest Of All Lost Arts by clicking HERE!

Along with all of the great new records we are putting out this summer (I know that’s a little cocky, I can’t help that we rule) we have a bunch of great new merch on the way. We will shortly have new T Shirts and Sweatshirts from the likes of Every Time I Die, Gwen Stacy, Elysia, The Banner, Ligeia, Lower Definition, Eternal Lord and Knights Of The Abyss! I know that is a lot to take in all at one time but we have some great new designers that we have enlisted and a great bunch of designs that came from them, we are all real excited. Be on the look out!

One last thing, the Ferret Young Guns Tour (See You Next Tuesday, Elysia, Knights Of The Abyss, The Banner and A Girl A Gun A Ghost) kicked off last week and has been killing it ever since. All the guys are in San Diego, CA so if you are around, head out to the show. You can view all the details for this show and all the shows to follow by clicking HERE!

Pre Orders-Spring 2008/Bamboozle

By Rick Barnhart 04/03/2008

Check our featured pre orders section below for all our newest CD + T Shirt deals!

Get pumped on all our newest offerings from:
The Banner, 36 Crazyfists, The Hottness and Elysia.

For going on ten years New Jerseys, The Banner have broken all the unwritten rules for hardcore bands while leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The band has never proved their worth more than their latest release Frailty. “I feel like Each Breath Haunted was definitely us getting settled into our new path AND Frailty is us charging forward full force.” singer Joey Southside explains. When playing dark music, bands walk a fine line of writing credible, moving music or being cartoony ghouls .The Banner clearly has no desire to do the later and blasts the listener with brutal, genuine offerings of rage, depression and hopelessness while smashing the ears with crushing doom and blazing fast hardcore punk. To pre order Frailty by itself or with a special CD/T Shirt deal, please click HERE.

36 Crazyfists is evidence that there’s a beauty in isolation, a newfound purpose from even the worst of tragedies, and that heavy metal and hard rock music doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom to have power. From the band’s beginnings in 1994, they set out to create honest music that draws from many places without sounding like any other band in particular. After their original bass player died in a tragic automobile accident, the band relocated to Portland, Oregon and continued on, ever more determined to make their music heard. New songs promise to further expand and develop their sound, with the band’s patented twists and turns which already earned them favor amongst fans of bands like Thursday and Thrice ensuring that none of it sounds contrived, copied or otherwise rehashed from other bands. You can pre order The Tide And Its Takers by clicking HERE. If you are one of the first 500 orders you will receive the bands super limited EP, The Oculus for FREE!

Named for the final resting place of warriors in Roman Mythology, the Sacramento, CA based Elysia create epic battle hymns for the metal and hardcore set. Excessively brutal but socially conscious vocalist Zak Vargas espouses on society’s ills from a youthful viewpoint. “When we first started we got comments about our first demos as being misogynistic and I think this record shows how we’ve grown as people and adults in the musicianship and lyrics.” You can pre order Lion Of Judas by itself or with a special CD/T Shirt deal by clicking HERE.

A 5-piece Hard Rock/Punk/Southern Metal band out of Wilmigton, NC, The Hottness are unique with their approach to a some what watered down underground scene. With a sound composed of driving guitar riffs, flowing beats, thick breakdowns and southern style inspired vocal hooks, The Hottness have found a new way to showcase the already over populated Southern Rock/Metalcore scene. Although there is a heavy punk influence in style, The Hottness still know how to slow it down with melodic vocals and keep it alive with sing along parts for the kids. With their debut full length Stay Classy, The Hottness will breathe life into a progressively stagnant, deteriorating scene. You can order Stay Classy by itself or with a very special CD/T Shirt deal (T Shirt printed with Gold Foil) by clicking HERE.

Ferret will be rollin’ hard on The Bamboozle Festival at the Meadowlands Complex in New Jersey, May 3rd and May 4th, come hang out with us! Every Time I Die, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, The Banner, Foxy Shazam and Ferret related bands The Devil Wears Prada, Greeley Estates and BlessTheFall are all playing so there is no excuse to miss it!

2008 And Beyond...

By Rick Barnhart 02/11/2008

Happy belated new year everyone! We have been hard at work getting our new releases in stores and into your hands as well as settling into our new office, so please excuse the lack of updates…

We have had some excellent records come out already this year in Foxy Shazam (Introducing), The Red Death (Godmakers), The Breathing Process (In Waking; Divinity) and our most recent and first proper Ferret release in 2008 Gwen Stacy’s The Life I Know! For those of you who pre ordered these records, thank you for showing your excitement for these amazing records and we hope you are pumped up for what we have up next….

Elysia – Masochist (Ferret)
Self-releasing their debut full-length Masochist in 2006 the band did a west coast tour with KillWhitneyDead and just completed their first national tour with With Blood Comes Cleansing, Arsonists Get All The Girls and Knights Of The Abyss. Inking a brand new deal with Ferret Music the band is set to enter God City Studios in Salem, MA with Kurt Ballou (Converge) this December with a new album to surface in 2008.

As a preview of what is to come from Elysia (and to get those of you who are not familiar with the band) we are re releasing Masochist this month as a WEBSTORE ONLY release! You will only be able to purchase Masochist here in our store (and at select Hot Topic stores). You can order Masochist by clicking HERE

A Girl A Gun A Ghost – Through The Eyes Of Ahab (Siege of Amida)
Whilst about to embark on full US treks with Poison The Well, Gwen Stacey and Inhale/Exhale, the band are set to unleash one of the sure-fire contenders for album of the year in ‘Through The Eyes Of Ahab’; 14 monolithic tracks of adrenalized, sprawling heavy rock that combines the best of Every Time I Die, Far, Buried Inside, Isis and Refused…though not to merely be compared to their influences and peers, AGAGAG also possess an undeniable intensity of their own, a sound that is as unpredictable as it is exhilarating.

You can pre order Through The Eyes Of Ahab by clicking HERE

Eternal Lord – Blessed Be This Nightmare (Ferret)
In early 2007 Eternal Lord had some slight line up changes, recruiting ex I Killed The Prom Queen vocalist Edward Butcher and From The Carnival Of Horrors bassist Nick Gardener. After recording some demo versions of their album, letting fans have a preview of what’s to come and touring the United Kingdom with All That Remains / Misery Signals and Textures the band really started to get noticed more. Playing shows UK wide and being booked for other countries such as Australia and Europe.

Eternal Lord are set to release their debut album Blessed Be This Nightmare this year and follow it up with some extensive touring! Pre Order COMING SOON!

36 Crazyfists – The Tide And It’s Takers (Ferret)
Like the Jackie Chan flick from which they take their name, 36 Crazyfists brings an action-packed attack with a smile, injecting an infectious enthusiasm into their unique blend of crushing rhythms and soaring melodies. All of the rage and venom you’d expect is intact, of course, but there’s a depth and dynamic that is too often absent from the style that is inherent to everything 36 Crazyfists is about.

Now an integral part of the ever-expanding Ferret Music family, 36 Crazyfists is set to enter the studio with guitarist Steve Holt at the helm to record the followup to the fan-beloved Rest Inside the Flames. New songs promise to further expand and develop their sound, with the band’s patented twists and turns which already earned them favor amongst fans of bands like Thursday and Thrice ensuring that none of it sounds contrived, copied or otherwise rehashed from other bands. Pre Order COMING SOON!

Annotations Of An Autopsy – Before The Throne Of Infection
(Siege of Amida)
Annotations Of An Autopsy are one of the fastest rising bands in the UK. Mixing elements of Deathgrind, Sludgy Stoner and pulverising Deathcore, the band’s fearsome live show is not to be fucked with, as is the dedication of their evergrowing fanbase.

November 2007 sees a UK tour with Blood Red Throne followed by the band’s debut album Before The Throne Of Infection in the spring of 2008 and relentless touring from then onwards in both the UK and the the USA. Pre Order COMING SOON!

As promised we have some sweet winter hats (beanies, skullys, tooks whatever the hell you want to call them) in our Accessories Section and while you are in there you might want to check out the posters we put up for our newer releases with ever more to come (Gwen Stacy, Foxy Shazam, The Red Death, The Breathing Process, A Girl A Gun A Ghost, Eternal Lord etc…)

Portland has been hard at work cranking out some sweet new t shirts, hoodies and pre order t shirts for you guys so stay tuned, more on those next time!

We are kicking off 2008 the right way with 3 amazing records from our brother labels New Weathermen Records and Siege of Amida Records!

Foxy Shazam – Introducing (New Weathermen)
Get your dancing shoes on! Foxy Shazam is one of the newest, most charismatic and original bands to grace our roster. You can pre order Introducing by clicking HERE

The Breathing Process – In Waking; Divinity (Siege of Amida)
The Breathing Process makes music for musicians and music lovers alike. They have developed a sound that truly captures the minds and hearts of the fans. Influenced by music of all genres, the assembled artists of TBP progress in skill and creativity while retaining the heart of the music. For fans of Kill Switch engage, Meshuggah, As I Lay Dying, and any form of extreme music. You can pre order In Waking; Divinity by clicking HERE

The Red Death – Godmakers (Siege of Amida)
Fusing the speed and barbarism of Gothenburg Thrash with the unrelenting violence of American Death Metal, The Red Death are a breathtaking hybrid of everything that makes heavy music so appealing. Sweeping melodies and razor sharp precision create the perfect trend killing vitriol that will stamp this band’s name into the hearts of any true Metal Head, especially fans of The Haunted, Malevolent Creation and At The Gates. The bar has just been raised… You can pre order Godmakers by clicking HERE.

We will then kick off February with our first proper Ferret release in 2008 with Indianapolis, Indiana’s own Gwen Stacy

Gwen Stacy – The Life I Know
On the band’s full-length Ferret debut, “The Life I Know”, Gwen Stacy convened with Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, The Bled, From Autumn to Ashes), and well-known producer Brian Mcternan to record in the fall of 2007. Gwen Stacy come out and immediately destroy the listener’s expectations. Vocalist Cole Wallace’s delivery hearkens back to a time when the message and the need to be understood were an essential part of hardcore. You can pre order The Life I Know by clicking HERE.
